Proposed Regulations on Liquefied Natural Gas Facilities
9/27/2013 (Updated 10:57:31 PM)The New York State Department of Conservation may not have made a definitive ruling on fracking, but the agency is proposing regulations to allow for the construction and operation of new liquefied natural gas facilities.
The facilities would include truck fueling stations and liquefied natural gas storage areas. DEC Commissioner Joe Martens said lower emissions from using natural gas as a fuel will provide significant benefits to the environment.
Public comment on the proposed regulations runs through November fourth, including a meeting in Syracuse on October 16th and one in Albany on October 30th.
These regulations would not affect an existing moratorium which prohibits LNG Facilities in New York City.
