Cuomo Texting Zones along New York Highways
9/23/2013 (Updated 10:54:33 PM)Texting and driving is illegal in New York State, but Governor Cuomo has announced a way to safely text on state roadways.
There will now be special texting zones along the New York State Thruway and state highways that are pull-off areas to park and use mobile devices.
Existing rest stops and parking areas will serve a dual function as texting zones.
There are 91 texting zones statewide, including on route 17 in Owego and Nichols, and Route 81 in Whitney Point and the Pennsylvania state line.
