A Buyers Market: Price of Homes Drop in Broome County

Prices of homes fall in the Broome County area. What does that mean for local residents?

Realtors are saying that now is the time to buy. Sales prices have dropped by almost 13 percent this year according to the Greater Binghamton Association of Realtors.

Tips for sellers? Make the house as presentable as possible, and fix and repair what needs to be done so that there will be less work and expense for the buyers.

"We have one of the most affordable housing areas to live in but by the same token we have to have jobs and we have to have income to take advantage of the housing that's available here," said Pat Kilts the former President of the Greater Binghamton Realtors.

The median sales price for a home in the area fell from $129,000 to $113,000 this year.
