Tournament to Benefit Battle Against Breast Cancer

In just three years, a group of women in Chenango County have turned a golf fundraiser into a sold out all day outing.

Dress Your Fancy Bridal Salon Owner Shelly Howell organized the tournament when her mother was diagnosed with breast cancer.  This year, the tournament has been renamed the Tina Turner Memorial Golf Classic after her sister who lost her battle with the disease.

Although the tournament is sold out, people are invited to attend the dinner and concert featuring the Mick Hayes Band on September 28th at the Genegantslet Golf Club in Greene.

To purchase tickets call 656-4200.

Howell will also be walking 60 miles for the Susan G. Komen for the Cure. To donate to their efforts visit the3day.org and search for the team "The Girlz."
