Emergency Preparedness Fair
9/4/2013 (Updated 6:50:40 PM)Some of you might be nervous this time of year ever since the September Flood of 2011.
Wednesday at the American Red Cross in Endicott local officials announced the details of the Preparedness Fair, which will take place September 21st at the Binghamton University Event Center from 11:00am to 4:00pm.
They say staying safe means having a plan and supplies. These include water, medication, canned food, a can opener, clothing, blankets, hygiene items, a light source, a radio and important papers.
"We really want people to be able to sustain for up to 72 hours, or maybe even beyond. And if we look back to the flood of 2011 there were time where emergency services couldn't even physically get to individuals because of the danger of the water," said Shelley Bierwiler the Community Chapter Executive of the Southern Tier American Red Cross.
The fair will include live demonstrations and more information on how to be prepared for the worst.
