9/3/2013 (Updated 10:54:05 PM)With the implementation of Obamacare less than a month away, a new Harris Interactive poll shows half of American adults preparing to make decisions about health insurance still don't understand basic financial terms found in the plans.
Some tips from the American Institute of CPA's include knowing your health history to assess your costs, compare fees such as deductibles and co-pays, and compare coverage.
"I would just say that the Affordable Care Act is a really complicated piece of legislation and it's good to be educated about it. It's a big piece of your budget so you're going to want to know this so make sure that you have resources to stay up to date and make good decisions,"
Open enrollment begins in October, and individuals will be required to buy health insurance or pay a penalty beginning next year.
