The Johnson City Field Days went on all weekend and people came out not only to enjoy the food and rides but to also take advantage of the police safety programs.
The Broome County Sheriffs Office held a program today called Operation Safe Child. More than three hundred people visited the stand where police distributed cards to parents with their child's finger print and identification number.
Deputy Genter says the card will help locate a child in a case where he or she goes missing.
"It's great to have all the information especially when you keep it in your wallet. It's a little plastic card that looks like a credit card. It doesn't rub off, it lasts a long time," he said. "It's really a great tool for law enforcement as well as any other person who might be looking for the child, any first respondents."
Operation Safe Child is part of the Amber Alert programs and Missing Persons Clearinghouse.
