Mets trade means call-ups for former B-Mets

One day after ace Matt Harvey was diagnosed with a partial tear of his UCL, the Mets traded two of their hottest bats this year. Catcher John Buck and Marlon Byrd, with cash, have been traded to the Pirates for SS Dilson Herera and a player to be named later.
While some fans are scratching their heads, it is good news for two former B-Mets. To replace Harvey, Buck, and Byrd, the Mets have recalled Robert Carson, Anthony Recker, and Matt den Dekker. Carson and den Dekker were both members of the 2011 and 2012 B-Mets, Carson also played in Binghamton in 2010.
Both Recker and Carson have seen time in Flushing already in 2012, but for den Dekker his next appearance will be his MLB debut. While den Dekker is not in the lineup Tuesday against the Phillies, Mets GM Sandy Alderson says that he will see playing time, sharing duties in the outfield with Andrew Brown.
Carson will work out of the bullpen, as he has done for his entire Major League career, as Carlos Torres will replace Harvey in the rotation.
