Routine Traffic Stop Leads to Arrest
8/25/2013 (Updated 10:58:23 PM)A queens man was arrested in the Town of Fenton Saturday after a routine traffic stop.
The Broome County Sheriff's Office arrested 27 year old Mohamed Rumy Abdul-Jabar, a native of Sri-lanka, after officers pulled over the driver of a 2002 Toyota for speeding. Abdul-Jabar was a passenger in the car.
Police found almost two pounds of a marijuana on him and a plastic packet containing cocaine. He was arraigned in the Town of Fenton Court and charged with 1 count of Criminal Possession of Marihuana in the 2nd degree and one count of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance.
Abdul-Jabbar is in the Broome CountyJail without bail pending county court action
