VESTAL -- BU students also had the opportunity Saturday to participate in CPR training at the school's HeartSafe CPR Event.
The American Heart Association helped sponsor the event. Students learned the chain of survival for cardiac arrest, how to do CPR and how to use an AED. More than 350 people attended the event. Organizers say it's important for students to learn these life saving techniques.
"Having a young generation entering the world that knows these skills is just great. If you could get everyone on our campus over the next four years at Binghamton trained, that's 10,000 people entering the community that know CPR," said Brandon Ezoulai
The event is part of BU's goal to train a thousand students in CPR and become an AHA Certified Heart Safe Campus. It would be the second and largest university in the country with the certification.
