25 Lockheed Martin employees in Owego learned they have lost their jobs Thursday.
The company's public affairs officer said Thursday in an email that the layoffs were necessary to address current business realities including uncertain program funding, a delay in contract awards and an extremely competitive market.
According to the representative, there will be 367 U.S. employees across mission system and training whose positions will be eliminated.
Lockheed Martin has more than 2,700 employees at its Owego plant, and more than 18,000 in the United States, and nine other countries.
