In other news, Vestal has lost the latest round in its fight with United Health Services Hospitals-over a multi-million dollar tax exemption:
The property in question is the UHSU walk-in clinic on Vestal Parkway East.
According to reports, a State Supreme Court ruling grants the not-for-profit operation a property tax exemption for the value of the building--minus a small section that houses a private MRI operation.
The hospital argued that it was entitled to an 8.5 million dollar exemption, based on the assessment of both the building and the land it sits on.
Although UHSH leases the land from a private company, the lease agreement stipulates that the hospital retains ownership of the building.
