Man Charged with Attempting to Light Woman on Fire

An Endicott man is facing charges for attempting to light a woman on fire.
Village police responded to a home on East Main Street after reports a man was pouring gasoline on a female. They say an investigation revealed 54-year-old Mark Geertgens poured gasoline on the victim then flicked a lit cigarette at her.
The victim did not catch on fire. Geertgens is now charged with attempted assault, a felony. He was remanded to the Broome County Jail.
