BINGHAMTON -- Despite losing to the defending National Champions, FC Sonic, 1-0 in the NPSL Northeast Regional Finals on Sunday, the bright side for Greater Binghamton Football Club is how their fan base has grown. On Opening Night, a few hundred fans took in the game at Greater Binghamton Sports Complex, but by Sunday's final game there were over 1,000.
In just their second season, GBFC has been a surprise to many, taking the Keystone Division title and finishing at an impressive 10-2-2. Even though, they fell short of the goals, players and coaches were thankful to fans for showing up, and say next year can not come soon enough.
