July Fest in Downtown Binghamton

BINGHAMTON -- Thousands come to downtown Binghamton to celebrate summer.

It may not be the Spiedie Fest, or the Dick's Open, or even the Strawberry Fest but it is July Fest and it just might be Binghamton's best kept secret.

"I haven't been to the July Fest in awhile and heard a lot about it and it's always really good to get to downtown Binghamton," said Francis Battisti, Executive Vice President at SUNY Broome.

It's not everyday that the streets of downtown get shutdown for concerts, vendors, and a 5K run.  Many residents drive through downtown everyday but they don't always get a chance to stop and truly see what it has to offer and some even experienced the true sights and sounds of their first July Fest.

"This is my first time so I grew up in this but made it today and I am enjoying it while I'm here," said Soyvonne McKeon, an Endicott resident

From the Binghamton staple sandwich, the Spiedie, to yummy Italian treats, there was certainly something to please any palate. This morning was no different. Visitors with a healthy  appetite braved the lines for a taste of their favorite treat. Vendors who are rookies to July Fest say they have grown a little attached to the city.

"I'm excited about it! I haven't spent much time in Binghamton so I'm excited to meet all the people and we found that Binghamton is a great place to find people who are really interested in healing and learning about massage therapy and coming up to the school,"said Elena Gonzales, Admissions Representative for Finger Lakes School for Massage

The food, fun, and music continues tomorrow from 10 to 5.
