Tribute to Fallen Soldier from Barton

A tribute Thjursday night to a soldier from Barton, who died recently while serving in Afghanistan.

"On behalf of the President of the United States..."
A presentation of the flag,  and somber moments on the grounds of Tioga Central High School--from which Sgt. Justin Rogers graduated in 2007.

But beyond the sadness, there were also fond and lasting memories being shared by those who knew and loved him:

"As a youth he had the body of a grown man with a ten-year old inside it.
And as we watch him grow he grew into his body and became an enormous presence in our school and was always fun and light-hearted." said Josh Roe, Tioga co-wrestling coach

"He was a man that excelled in every area that he went after. Anything that he hoped to achieve he made sure that he did,  and as determined as he was he was just as kind and giving and very humble." said Adam Rogers, a cousin.
Sgt. Justin Rogers was an athlete, paticipating in wrestling and football.
He served with the U.S. Army for the past five years, and was serving in Afghanistan as a horizontal construction engineer.

In addition to parents, siblings and relatives, he leaves behind his wife, Stephanie, and his young daughter, Nateli.
