Fireworks and Family Traditions at Highland Park
7/4/2013 (Updated 9:52:36 PM)While many anxiously await Thursday nights fireworks at Highland Park, others are just as excited to be spending the day with family.
For the Gould family, the Fourth of July is more than being able to celebrate America's Birthday. It has become a chance to reunite with family members near and far.
"It's great to get together with everybody every year. We make the two and a half hour trip every year from Fairport New York to make sure it's apart of our annual tradition here at the Fourth of July. It's great to share with my kids and show them the experience I grew up with, and it gives them a chance to hang out with the aunts, uncles, and grandpa," said Brian Gould.
"We've been coming here for some 30 odd years now and the children are all grown up, so for them to get together this is just another time to touch base with everybody and have a good time," said Charles Gould.
"It's awesome to be here with the family we don't get together as much since we're all across the country but when we do we have a great time there's nothing better than coming here for the Fourth of July. During the day you have the chicken barbecue that's a tradition for us. And then we come back for the fireworks and they're the best in the area," said Brian Gould.
