ENDICOTT -- Vietnam veterans got up early Saturday morning to cast their fishing lines-- a show of support for their brothers in arms.
The 11th Annual Amateur Bass Tournament drew dozens of local veterans and friends to Grippen Park in Endicott. Participants competed for cash prizes, based on the total weight of three fish. But the main purpose of the event was to raise money for veterans in need, and to boost their spirits.
"We try to help all the vets that we can and it's just another way that we can make some money to keep in the chapter to help those Vets that need help," said Chairman Ken Joseck.
"What we are trying to do is get them to come out of their little shells and start living again and coming out and enjoying life," saud Vietnam veteran Arthur Belles.
