Broome Community College got the thumbs up from the County Thursday evening on its $50 million budget for the 2013-2014 school year.
On Thursday, the Broome County Legislature held its public hearing on the proposed budget. Only one person shared his personal opinion on how the school should be spending their money. The budget was passed unanimously, and even includes a 2% increase in County support.
"It's good that we were able to give them a few more dollars this year and help support them a little bit more. It's exciting to see that they'll be starting the housing project. Next week I believe is the ground breaking ceremony. Then, in September, President Drumm says the new science building would be opening," said Legislature Chairman Jerry Marinich.
Also new this upcoming school year, BC Transit bus passes will be given out to all BCC students.
