JOHNSON CITY -- Concerned residents are stepping up their efforts to protect their community from crime.
Members of the Johnson City Neighborhood Project hosted a neighborhood watch kick off event today. The Johnson City Police and Fire Departments and the Broome County Sheriff's department gave families a firsthand look at some ambulances.
The program is all about strengthening the partnership between the police and the community to make the village safer.
"That there are people here with like concerns and if we join together we can fight these things make a difference have a safe healthy community. People now don't even know who their neighbors are, and we figure something like this gives them the opportunity to meet people," said Founding Member of Johnson City's Neighborhood Program.
The motto of the Neighborhood Watch Program is "See it. Hear it. Report it."
