It was a school prank gone wrong. State police have arrested an 18 year old in connection with the break in at Chenango Forks High School last week.
Alex Vandermark of Port Crane turned himself in Wednesday morning and is now charged with burglary.
An investigation revealed Vandermark entered the school with a skeleton mask and dark clothing late in the night on June 6th into June 7th. Police say he released hundreds of crickets and a school-owned chinchilla. He also put rubber cement on several chairs and locks as an end of the end of the school year prank.
Last week's break in prompted schools to be let out early and close down for the weekend as state police investigated the incident.
