Governor Announces Largest Tourism Campaign In Decades
5/9/2013 (Updated 10:39:41 PM)The governor is also making another effort that will benefit the Southern Tier, economically, as well as every part of the state.
On Thursday, he announced the launch of New York's largest tourism campaign in decades. He's committing nearly $60 million to grow the industry, create jobs, and attract more visitors to the Empire State.
Local booster tell us this area could be a gateway.
"And the Southern Tier is extremely well positioned as a stopping off point for international travel between New York City, that point of entry and the other legacy destination in New York State, Niagara Falls," said Fred Bonn the Director of Ithaca Tompkins Co. Convention Bureau.
The tourism campaign would feature millions of dollars of advertising in strategic downstate locations, including airports, subways, bus and commuter rail stations.
