What Predicts a Lasting Relationship?

Binghamton University Professor Matthew Johnson says one of the biggest factors that will make a relationship end is violence.
He also says, contrary to popular belief, living with your partner before marriage predicts a higher rate of divorce. But, he says there are ways to save your relationship.
"All couples experience some problems in their marriage. And, so it's how you handle those problems. Even if you're very angry, if you can develop skills to talk it through, that predicts good things," said Associate Professor of Psychology at B.U Matthew Johnson.
Johnson says intimate relationships impact every aspect of our well-being.
Johnson spoke Wednesday at the school's annual luncheon.
