Binghamton University students honored Israel's Independence Day with what they say is one of the largest celebrations among American campuses.
The event was held on the Dickson Community Campus where students could stop for Middle Eastern themed activities, live music and experience a traditional Middle Eastern food market.
"We put a lot of time and effort and thought into designing the market and making it look like original and authentic. We tried as much to take Israel and bring it into the Old Union Hall. We really are trying to emerge the Binghamton community into Israeli culture and Israeli society," said Eric Blumenthal and Melissa Leifer, Co-Chairs for Yom Ha'atzmaut 2013.
The event was put on by Hillel at Binghamton with donations from various local organizations and help from the Off Campus Community Council.
