New Gun Laws In Effect Monday
4/15/2013 (Updated 11:18:36 PM)The limitations on handgun magazine capacity as a result of the New York SAFE Act went into effect Monday.
The new law limits concealed carriers to a ten round magazine that can have up to seven rounds loaded. The addition of the law not only effects gun owners -- but law enforcers and shop owners. When it comes to enforcement -- everyone has a role to play.
"The dealers are going to do what they're supposed to do and not sell any magazines with more than a ten round capacity. But as far as individuals possessing them like I said, that'll be handled case by case," said Officer Brian Curtis, Supervisor for ID and Pistol Permit with the Broome County Sheriff's Office.
