BCC Hosts Fundraiser for Family of Student Killed
4/14/2013 (Updated 11:08:11 PM)BINGHAMTON -- The BCC community came together Sunday to support a student's family who was struck by tragedy.
When BCC student Noel Pike was killed in a car accident in February, she left behind 5-year-old Donovan Lema.
A carnival was held on campus to benefit Donovan and honor Noel. Donovan was joined by dozens of other kids, who danced, played games, and painted their faces. Family members say Noel was a great mother, who had an incredible bond with her son.
"We're not going to let him not be taken care of," said Donovan's grandfather Charles Pike.
"It's something you have to do. You want to raise money for his future, anything you can do to help him out," said BCC student Amber Lee Weyant.
All money raised through entrance fees and donations will help pay for Donovan's schooling.
