The family of a Vestal teenager who was killed last June is now suing the family of the man who has admitted to killing her.
16-year-old Shelby Jenkins was strangled to death by Steven Lipka, now 20. Lipka was Jenkins' boyfriend and father of their child.
The crime occurred at the home of Lipka's grandparents, Faye Lipka-Pellett and Michael Pellett on June 14.
Steven Lipka has pled guilty to manslaughter in the death.
in a civil suit filed on March 14th, the two grandparents and 42-year-old Keith Cleveland are named as defendants. Cleveland has already been charged with purchasing and providing alcohol to several underage people at his home on the Vestal Parkway hours before Jenkins' death.
The suit alleges the defendants are liable for the underage drinking that contributed to the confrontation that killed Jenkins.
