Residents Concerned Where Grant Money Will Go
4/3/2013 (Updated 11:00:54 PM)A packed house in the Town of Union on Wednesday where a public hearing was being conducted on how the town should spend more than a million dollars in federal community development block grants.
Some residents say money should be spent in the clean up and repair to the flooded Westover area. There was also a lot of concern among neighbors who live in the area where National Pipe and Plastic wants to relocate.
They say the bridge and roads near 17-C can't handle the increased traffic they expect--and they want the money to go for reconstruction.
"We want to reiterate to Rose Sotack that she invited National Pipe and Plastic as her neighbor. They're not her neighbor, they never were her neighbor, they are our neighbors and we don't want them as neighbors," said Violet Russell, West Endicott Resident.
The million dollars in block grant money would be shared by Union, Johnson City, and Endicott.
