After caring for the neediest members of their community over the past two months, elementary school students in Owego had a chance Thursday to care for some members of the animal kingdom.
It was all part of Owego elementary school's annual "Day of Caring."
Since February students have raised money and donations for local charities. today the ross park zoomobile stopped by to teach the kids how to treat the various creatures that paid a visit today, such as a hedgehog, owl, and snake.
Organizers say students donated hundreds of books, coats, and food items to various charities.
They also wrote 400 cards for local seniors, and raised $500 to assist schools in New York City recovering from Superstorm Sandy.
