A Call to End Gun Violence
3/28/2013 (Updated 6:47:22 PM)As a part of the national day to demand action, Binghamton Mayor Matt Ryan and other local officials are calling on congress to end gun violence.
There were over a hundred gatherings across the country organized by "Mayors Against Illegal Guns.
Ryan says common sense gun reforms like background checks-- need to be passed during the upcoming congressional recess.
"It will prevent people from getting illegal guns and will prevent a lot of senseless death in our country. We hope our leaders have the fortitude to stand up to anybody and make sure they do the will of the people-- and the will of the people is clearly to pass sensible gun safety laws," said Mayor Matt Ryan.
The group is encouraging the public to call their senate district offices to show their support for gun law reforms.
