VESTAL -- The third Bearcats wrestler making the trip to Nationals is Nate Schiedel. It will be the senior's fourth trip to NCAAs, but this year he is competing in a different weight class. Schiedel moved up from 184 to 197 pounds this year.
He hasn't changed his approach despite changing his weight class: "I'm just gonna go out there and take it one match at a time and not look past anybody, and be excited for those seven minutes and get the job done."
His coach has the utmost confidence in him. Matt Dernlan says, "I call Nate the Beast. He's got muscles, he looks like an X-Man or something like that. He's really grasped 197 really easily."
Schiedel, 5-1 against this year's NCAA field, will face unseeded freshman Conner Hartman from Duke on Thrusday.
