River Gauges Will Stay Operational
3/18/2013 (Updated 3/19/2013 7:55:30 AM)A series of river gauges used to predict flood levels in the Susquehanna River will stay operational, according to the offices of Senators Charles Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand.
The pair announced the Federal Government will provide the $215,000 needed to keep the gauges on line in the Southern Tier through the end of the year. The money comes from $25 million in forecasting money the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration got as part of the Hurricane Sandy relief bill.
In all, 18 stream gauges and 16 rain gauges will stay operational.
