Gun Advocates Appeal New York Safe Act
3/18/2013 (Updated 6:48:27 PM)
Over 1,200 plaintiffs have appealed the State Supreme Court decision to the appellate decision. Some legislators are working to ammend the law. Assemblyman Clifford Crouch, who opposes the law, is critical of the Governor for supporting an ammendment that would allow movies to shoot scenes that feature assault weapons banned under the law.
"Movie companies come to New York state to make movies, which we've encouraged them to do but to allow them to make movies using the assault-style weapons. To me that's kind of strange that it just promotes more violence," said Assemblyman Clifford Crouch (R-Guilford).
A recent Siena Poll found 61 percent of New Yorkers support the New York Safe Act, but 48 percent feel the bill was rushed into law.
