Stop DWI Patrols On The Roads This Weekend

Don't be surprised if you see some extra patrol cars this weekend.

Throughout Broome County, more police will be on the roads to keep you safe from revelers on this Saint Patrick's Day weekend.

This year, Broome County's Stop DWI program is is also taking its message to the airwaves and on Facebook.

Coordinator Chris Marion says outreach campaigns and crackdowns are working.

"It's good to see crashes going down, fatalities going down.  The arrests are going down.  Less arrests mean less money to put more officers on the street and educate the public.  But it's good to see alcohol-related fatalities and crashes going down," said Chris Marion, Broome County STOP DWI Program Coordinator.

Last Saint Patrick's Day weekend, police arrested over 500 people and handed out 11,600 tickets.
