B-Sens win streak ends with 3-1 loss at Rochester

ROCHESTER, N.Y.  The Binghamton Senators completed an eight game series with the North Divisions Rochester Americans tonight at the Blue Cross Arena. Despite the fact that the B-Sens entered the game with a 6-0-0-1 edge in the series, the Amerks managed to pull off a 3-1 regulation victory over the B-Sens, effectively spoiling Binghamtons bid for first place in the East Division and the American Hockey League.

The teams remained scoreless through the first period of play. Matt Ellis would finally put the home standing Amerks on the board at 13:48 of the second, scoring his third goal of the season with help from Cody McCormick and Mark Mancari.

The B-Sens answered just 1:30 later as Derek Grant scored to stretch his team lead in goals to 17 overall. Wacey Hamilton drew the lone assist on the play.

Luke Adam reclaimed the lead for the Amerks, netting one off a feed from Matt MacKenzie at the 17:32 mark to send Rochester to the dressing room for the second intermission with a 2-1 lead.

Maxime Legault stretched the Amerks lead to two goals just 2:18 into the third period. Nick Tarnasky and Adam drew the assists on the goal, which would stand as the last of the game as Rochester rolled to the 3-1 final.

Nathan Lawson started in goal for the B-Sens turning aside 36 of the 39 shots he faced as he fell to 6-3-1 on the season. David Leggio tended goal for the Amerks turning aside all but one of the 19 shots he saw to improve to 31-17-1 on the season.
