Barn Fire Kills Over 50 Animals
3/11/2013 (Updated 10:48:28 PM)A fire on Sunday has left over 50 animals dead.
It happened at 301 Hardie Road in Conklin. The property's owner said
the fire began just before noon on Sunday and crews didn't leave the scene until early Monday morning. He said his first thought when he saw the blaze was to save the 10 cows and about 50 chickens that were inside.
"It was hard when I first got out here because the cows were in there mooing and I couldn't get them out because it was too smoky to get in," said Glen Huntley who owns the property with his brother.
Multiple departments responded to the blaze. Fire officials said the cause is still under investigation, however, they might not be able to determine a cause due to the amount of damage.
