B-Sens win in final 2.3 seconds to close out big weekend

Hershey, P.A. -- The Binghamton Senators were on the road in Hershey today to face the Bears at Giant Center. Coming off back-to-back wins at home Friday and Saturday, the B-Sens rallied a comeback scoring two goals in the final four minutes of play, including one with under three seconds remaining in regulation to win their third straight, 3-2.

Jean-Gabriel Pageau extended his point-scoring streak to four games after putting away the B-Sens 16th shorthanded goal this season at 11:09 in the first period. Corey Cowick, who now has points in five of the last six games, earned the assist on the play. The B-Sens tally would stand alone in the first, giving Binghamton a 1-0 heading into the second.

The Bears tied the game as Paul LeBlanc put Hershey on the board with the help of Ryan Stoa and Garrett Mitchell at 4:23 into the second period. Hershey would go up by one after Casey Wellman put one in on the power play at 7:27 with Dmitry Orlov getting the lone assist on the go-ahead goal. The Bears dominated in shots racking a total of 18, while the B-Sens entered the second intermission with just nine shots on goal in the middle frame.

While Binghamton was unable to put the puck away for most of the third, Shane Prince sparked the B-Sens power play scoring six seconds into the man advantage at 16:23 to set the score at two a piece. Brett Lebda and Chris Wideman combined for the assists on Princes goal. With both teams prepared to head into the overtime, Derek Grant would whip one top shelf courtesy of Pat Cannone and Wacey Hamilton to secure the B-Sens regulation win with under three seconds remaining in the game.

Marc Cheverie earned his fourth win in goal for Binghamton, turning aside 28 of 30 Hershey shots. Philipp Grubauer started in goal for the Bears where he finished with 27 saves on 30 shots.
