BHS Alum Opens Recording Studio

(Source: Kate Thornton)

Most 23-year olds are just beginning to figure out what to do for the rest of their lives, but Nick York isn't your typical 20 something.

"It's unreal to me.  Just from my basement, to my bedroom to here now, having my own building and recording," said owner of York Productions, Nick Masucci.

Nick Masucci, also known as Nick York, is looking to pave the way for local artists who want to make it big with his brand new production studio in downtown Binghamton.

"Binghamton's not really on the map for music right now.  I'd like to give local artists a chance to showcase their talent, and if it's that good, hopefully we'll get them out there and heard.  We'll say, they're from Binghamton but not they're on Billboard Top 100," said Masucci.

York, a 07' Binghamton high alum is well versed on all things music.  It's a skill set that wouldn't be possible without his time spent as a Patriot.

"Music can make a difference in people's lives, and for the people like Nick who really aspire to make a life for themselves in music, it helps all of us to see him as an example of what's possible," said York's former music teacher at Binghamton High School Matt Little.

York plans on giving back to the area that sparked his love for music by giving them the tools to make their dreams come true as well.

"I hope more people that don't think they can stand a chance, and don't have the opportunity to go to California or go down to New York City, come right down here," said Masucci's mother Jean Masucci.

A boys love for music was born, thrived, and now is helping others.

York Productions is located at 140 Front Street, Binghamton.
