Local GOP: Rich David Out; New Candidate Ready; David Might Re-Enter
2/25/2013 (Updated 11:00:28 PM)
BINGHAMTON -- On Monday, the local GOP cited Rich David's back taxes on a business property as the reason for his withdrawl from the Binghamton Mayoral race. His removal left Republicans without a clear favorite for a candidate but that has changed. There is another candidate in the wings-- and the official announcement will be made in a few weeks. Meantime, the new candidate remains a mystery.
Chair of Broome County Republicans David Hamlin describes the candidate, "I think people are going to be surprised. This is a strong candidate, well known in the community, has a good background in government and also education."
Even though as of right now Rich David will not be on the ballot, Hamlin has not ruled out the possibility of him re-entering the race.
