ACA Memorial Doves Temporarily Removed
2/18/2013 (Updated 6:53:26 PM)
Glass artisan Milon Townsend will perform a scheduled inspection of the bird figurines.
Each bird represents the 13 lives who Jiverly Wong cut short when he opened fire at the American Civic Association in 2009.
The inspection will involve the removal of all 13 figurines from their mounts so they can be taken to his studio near Rochester, NY in order to allow the inspection to be performed indoors.
The inspection is to checked to see how the figurines weathered their first winter.
The park is still under construction. Benches and paving stones will be installed in March and the park is expected to be completed before the fourth anniversary of the tragedy on April 3rd.
The birds will be remounted at the park in a few weeks following their once-over, prior to the park dedication in the Spring.
