Busy Day For Flowers By Dillenbecks

It's a day filled with cards, teddy bears, and of course flowers.

"You look forward to it all year long.  You survive through it.  You work the long ours and usually have a good ending to it," says store manager Cheryl  Firtsch.

Valentines Day is one of the busiest days of the year for the florists at Flowers by Dillenbecks.

"Well it just gets busier every year, no matter how hard you try to plan ahead," says Pat Dillenbecks, florist.

"You start preparing even back by Christmas time," says Firstch.

"We have to get the orders done by tomorrow. So we'll be here late tonight.  1, 2 o'clock probably," says Dillenbecks.

Of course, the most popular flower for Valentines Day is roses.

"Got about 8-9,000 roses in store.  It's romantic, the romantic mood, what it conveys," says Firtsch.

Americans are expected to spend 1.9 billion dollars on flowers this Valentines Day.  Here in Johnson City it means a sleepless night for florists, but it also means a feeling of gratitude come tomorrow night.

"Well that's why we are in the business.  It's a customer led business and you want to make the customer happy," says Firtsch

"It makes you feel good.  You just hope you can make someone else happy," says Dillenbecks.
