Angel's Gate Closed for Good

PETA and animal rights groups are cheering Monday, over the closure of the Angel's Gate Sanctuary in Delhi.

The closure is part of the settlement of a lawsuit by the New York State Attorney General's Office.

PETA says the Angel Gate's action follows a PETA investigation, that showed severe neglect, which was often fatal for sick, injured and dying animals at the sanctuary.

The operator of Angel's Gate, Susan Marino has already been charged with cruelty to animals.  PETA says the closure of her sanctuary is a welcomed final chapter.

"The important thing for animals and for peel who care about animals is that she can't take anymore in, she can't do it under the pretense of caring for them, and people who care about animals can't send them to her or send her hard earned dollars to support what they think is good. But in reality animals were harmed, they killed there vert badly. Now that's all in the past," said Dan Padan from PETA.

Fox 40 News was unable to  reach Susan Mariino for comment.
