Despite Recent Cold, Still A Mild Winter

Well in case you've been living under a rock the last week-- it's been cold-- very cold.  A big change from last year's mild winter.

Don't forget less than 2 weeks ago-- it was 50 degrees.  Despite the recent cold snap-- our friends at the National Weather Service say we're actually running somewhat mild this winter-- but definitely not as warm as last year.

"It certainly has been below normal the last few days.  The normal high for the Binghamton area up here on the hill is 29 and our normal low is 15.  We haven't even hit 15 for a high.  We've been below zero.  You know it is cold but it's not unprecedented cold," said David Nicosia from the National Weather Service in Binghamton.

Nicosia says the spring flooding potential so far looks to be low due to fact of the low snow totals.  Last year broke the record of all time lowest snowfall in a winter season in Binghamton.
