Would You Pay a Buck for Blighted Home?
1/22/2013 (Updated 9:19:21 PM)
How's this for a deal? For a single dollar, you can purchase a house in a blighted neighborhood.
And you can receive up to 100-thousand dollars in grants to develop and improve the property.
"We're hoping to see quality investment, a really special redevelopment that is going to add to the attractiveness of the neighborhood. This is all part of a comprehensive approach towards combating vacant and blighted properties," said Director of Planning, Housing, and Community Development, Tarik Abdelazim.
Applications for the One Dollar Happy Home Initiative, as its called, can be obtained through Binghamton's Department of Planning, Housing, and Community Development.
