Farmers Market Promotes Health
1/19/2013 (Updated 10:45:20 PM)
The Otsiningo Winter Farmers Market inside the Metro Center held its first health and wellness event on Saturday. Hundreds of people came for food from local farmers, free blood pressure readings from Lourdes, exercise demonstrations from UHS, and even circle drumming with the Mental Health Association.
"We wanted to have a way for people to unwind after the holidays, do something healthier, get back into a balanced lifestyle," said Lauren Tonti, Vice Chair of the Otsiningo Farmer's Market.
"There's a lot of health benefits, just the right and left hand drumming. And it's fun," said Cindy Casterlin, a Volunteer Coordinator for the Mental Health Association.
If you missed out, organizers say they plan on doing another event soon. The market is held every 1st and 3rd Saturday through April.
