Traffic Stop Leaves Three Facing Charges
1/12/2013 (Updated 10:29:40 PM)A traffic stop leaves three Binghamton residents facing charges.
Police say they attempted to stop 24 -year- old Yusuf Montgomery for an expired inspection sticker while he was driving down Glenwood Road in the Town of Dickinson. Police say he kept driving and fled the vehicle at the intersection of Sowden and Longview Streets, leaving 26-year-old StaceyCatala and her infant behind.
Police say when they questioned Catala she lied about Montgomery's identity. Police say a resident of Sowden Street, 47-year-old Thomas Rigo, told them he saw Montgomery run North on Longview Street, but didn't know him.
An investigation later revealed Montogmery had been living in Rigo's basement. Montgomery was taken into custody. He stated he ran because the vehicle was uninsured and he didn't have a license.
