16th Annual Blood Drive
12/22/2012 (Updated 10:50:55 PM)
Donald Castellucci Jr. started the blood drive in memory of his parents who died of cancer. During their illnesses, both relied on blood transfusions.
He says they have recruited over 500 donors and helped over 1500 patients to date.
"It does make you feel good that you are helping people, that some day down the road anyone could need blood. Every 1 out of 3 Americans needs blood every day so you're helping someone. Could be your neighbor, could be someone 40 miles away, doesn't matter," said Castellucci Jr.
A pasta dinner will be served to all who donate thanks to the help of some local businesses.
This years blood drive will be held on december 27th at the Owego Elks Club from 1:30-6:30. Appointments can be made by calling 1-800-redcross or logging on to redcrossblood.org.
