Local students are trying to influence their peers to make smart decisions on the road.
Owego Free Academy's Students Against Drunk Driving Organization kicked off the district's "Eyes Forward" campaign Thursday at the school.
The campaign asks drivers to put their cell phones out of reach while driving. nearly 200 students signed pledges, which were all posted on the wall in front of the cafeteria.
"It seems like in today's society more people are getting into the texting attitude, where they take their eyes off the road for a couple seconds. But that couple seconds could be devastating," said SADD member Isaac Maynard.
Owego Free Academy will continue the campaign throughout the holidays, and then again for prom and graduation seasons.
