Debbie Preston as Mrs. Claus

BINGHAMTON -- While Mr. Claus was busy at the North Pole getting ready for Christmas, Mrs. Claus, at least someone dressed at Mrs. Claus visited a Binghamton elementary school Thursday.

Broome County Executive Debbie Preston was decked as Mrs. Claus while she read aloud Rudolph the Red-nosed Reindeer to students of MacArthur Elementary School at their temporary location at St. Thomas Aquinas school.

Rowdy the Reindeer from animal adventure in Harpursville provided some real-life animation.

"Santa couldn't be here because he was so busy and the elves are busy and I'm down here," said Preston.

Preston also handed out holiday-themed books to each student, donated by the Penguin Book Group of Kirkwood.
