Police Confirm BB Gun Used in Robbery
12/4/2012 (Updated 12/5/2012 3:23:29 PM)
The gun was fired, but there was no injury as several suspects made off with the woman's purse.
Tuesday afternoon, we asked police about the use of BB guns by criminals.
The Broome County Sheriff's Department says many such guns are very realistic, opening up causing new dangers for both suspects, and police who apprehend them.
"The gun in my left hand is again my service weapon, it's got a polymer frame, and a metal action on the top with the metal barrel. It's very similar in weight to this CO2 pellet gun. I would just say to you, how do you make the distinction especially in a life or death situation," said Captain Frederick Akshar of the Broome County Sheriff's Department.
Police are still looking for three suspects if you have any information, contact the Endicott Police.
Suspects are all believed to be white males who fled the scene of Monday night's robbery on foot.
